I think it's a good start. The problem seems to me to be that you've gone from one extreme (no swearing) to another (too much swearing). If you used a bit less profanity, I think it would turn out a lot better.

Your original character resembles Tails a bit... And the generic shoes and gloves don't exactly help either, but the cat does look good.
